there is still classic futurama humor and fans will not be dissapointed with the first futurama movie. the story begins with a delvery to the nude beach planet were they give their e-mail adresses to naked pink creatures then they start getting tons of spam and bender gets a virus and the nude pink aliens take planet express and discover time travel they then send bender on a stealing spree through time. thats right futurama is back. the first of the four futurama movies is in my opinion the best of the series.
If I just wanted to watch it I would have put it on netflix. I am tired of paying good money for movies and no good place to stored it. I like to collect my favorite movies/shows I want a nice case for spending 15+ dollars.(I know they claim the poor cases are for the dirty hippies) Movie is Great for Futurama(5 stars). But Case is very very thin cardboard and the disc just slides into a cardboard slot.
While on their first mission back on the job they find themselves on a nude beach planet where a trio of naked aliens convince the entire Planet Express crew to give out their e-mail addresses to support any number of false causes. The naked alien trio shows up on Professor Farnsworth's front door claiming the company and, eventually, the planet as their own. What would a new installation in the Futurama saga be without Fry trying and failing to win Leela's heart. Indeed, what would it be without well-choreographed plotlines involving massive amounts of time travel, beer-guzzling robots and the occasional music number. Perhaps the greatest part of this 89 minute excursion into the great green yonder is the ability to wrap up loose ends that were never explained in episodes past.Overall, I still get goosebumps when I watch this DVD. No other animated show makes me laugh as hard as Futurama and yet displays such true emotion.
Before they know it, Planet Express and all of Earth become victims of identity theft and financial scams. You can either watch this DVD now in its 89 minute glory, or you can wait. But Futurama: Bender's Big Score marks the first phase of reparations. A full episode of the toad staring at you.and vice versa if you watch back.
Eventually this movie will get chopped up into 4 pieces and recut as new episodes in the upcoming season of Futurama. Yet there they are, two years later, celebrating the firing, beating and deaths of those Box Network execs. November 27, 2007 couldn't come fast enough. Fry finds his romantic advances halted in lieu of Lars; the new interloper into Leela's world; meanwhile Bender finds himself the stooge of the scamming alien trio due to a porn virus he unwittingly downloaded. In cutting up the movie, new content will be added to help them function as individual episodes.
This new 89 minute feature breathes new life into the series and spells good things to come in the future. Two years have passed since Box Network executives cancelled the contract with Planet Express leaving Fry, Leela, Bender and the rest of the crew out of a job. Wait for what. I'm not sure how many there are but I've listened to one and it was pretty funny. It's been years since Futurama got pulled off the air by the air-headed executives of Fox Network.
I myself was wary about it after the first viewing.but it gets better with each subsequent run.Special features:Commentary: Your typical commentary track. Matt Groening and company hit the jackpot with this franchise and I hope this resurrection goes a long way to proving that. Kinda fun to listen too. But I say regardless at least go out and rent this.Bender's Big Score achieves hilarity and promises a bright future for Fry, Leela and Bender. Futurama provides deep and rich plotlines featuring equally complex characters. This is everything a Futurama fan could hope it to be.
Like watching an animated show.live.but not.Hypnotoad: Personally I couldn't stop laughing at this. Quite a few.Live Comic Book Reading: The Futurama cast goes bed time story on an audience's behind as they read from a comic book. Might require chemical enhancement to truly enjoy.A Terrifying Message From Al Gore: Promotional cartoon for Gore's an Inconvenient Truth starring the Vice Pres himself and Bender, the lovable rascal.Bite My Shiny Metal X: Considering the time travel and mathematics related to time travel sported by the 89 minute feature - this is actually kind of cool to watch.Beyond that you have storyboard stuff, a copy of the original draft of the script, and the 5 minute Comic-Con promo video. A few good jabs at Fox.
Futurama fans rejoice. Family Guy can't come close and Simpsons lost its edge years ago. I've done so 3 times in the last 24 hours and I'll probably do it again shortly after writing this review.Futurama fans you have a choice. It seems in the future spam is much more convincing.
Bender's Big Score paces itself brilliantly and only ever feels forced when minor characters from past seasons are written in purely to say `hello'.
The setting, the plot, the dialogues, the humor, and the music are all excellent.Following the cancellation of the show (I wonder what "genius" came up with that idea.). Futurama: Bender's Big Score brings back to the screen Fry and the gang as they try to stop a trio of alien scammers who have their eyes set on planet Earth. The comic books are good, but nothing beats the actual show, so it's so good to have everybody back.Strongly recommended along with the other three Futurama films: The Beast with a Billion Backs, Bender's Game, and Into the Wild Green Yonder In short, KEEP'EM COMING. life was pretty hard without these amazing characters. All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows (the animation does come alive). Very well written and very well presented, the movie is without a doubt guaranteed to provide more than just a few laughs.
The humor is versatile and consistent throughout the movie. As expected, things get tangled and confusing after repeated uses of time code (sometimes the time travel reconciles current events, while at other times it overwrites them). The patient viewer is advised to use the rewind button liberally; things work out in the end, sort of.The plot is liberally sprinkled with callbacks to the original series that fill things out, but are safely ignored by novices (who can always return to the movie after watching the original series, giving it significant replay value). This is the first of the four feature-length films comprising Futurama's revival, and it's the most complete effort of the four. Character foibles, nerd jokes, cultural jokes, running gags, bathroom humor -- Bender's Big Score has it all.The feature-length format isn't ideal for Futurama (the other three movies demonstrate this more clearly), but Bender's Big Score proves that the show still has plenty to offer. The scammers soon discover a code for paradox-free time travel into the past on Fry's buttocks; with the code, they hatch a plot to steal all of Earth's treasures and take over the world. Because of the feature-length format, the writers employ a multithreaded plot that gets tangled at times, but the characterization and multifaceted humor is vintage Futurama, and the movie always feels fun and enjoyable as the plot develops.Back at Planet Express after a two-year hiatus, the crew head off to make a delivery to a nude beach planet, where they encounter a trio of nudist scammers who dupe them into handing over control of the company. Meanwhile, Hermes is decapitated in a limbo accident, and Leela falls in love with a mysterious stranger named Lars, making Fry jealous.
